For the Andean Collection we collectively write a blog related to our jewellery line, about what is going on in Ecuador and New York and other things that might interest our followers. I was really inspired by glimpses I could catch from the African Fashion Week on the BBC News website, and as I wrote about it on the Andean Collection blog, I thought this might be something for Tonalites de Femmes as well.
As the latest trends have shown the African continent’s influence – “such as bold colours and designs inspired by traditional techniques” are increasingly seen in haute couture. It is as much about tribal, ethnic and grass-root styles, as it is about elegance, flair and joy of life.
I just love the richness of the colours and patterns seen at the African Fashion Week and how the designs are both elegant and playful at the same time. Here are a couple of my favourites.

I love this look. Although soft colours are used, the overall look is strong, fresh and inspirational.
Traditional, elegant and sweet, this look makes me think of a warm evening after a hot day, summer scents, music and Caribbean Rum!
Talk about strength, elegance and symmetry! This lioness look with its high contrast colours and creative patters is what life is all about.
